The PACT Act was one of the largest health care and benefit expansions in VA history and ensures that veterans exposed to toxic chemicals while serving our country are getting the care they’ve earned. Nearly 3.5 million veterans are now eligible for care under the PACT Act, including 39,369 veterans in our district, Colorado’s 6th.
It was great to meet with our local veterans at the Rocky Mountain VA, receive a toxic exposure screening myself, and talk with VA leaders about how else I can support them in Congress. We addressed claims backlogs, staffing constraints, and veteran suicide prevention.
You or a veteran you know can file a claim for PACT Act-related disability compensation or request a toxic exposure screening. Most veterans and survivors who apply for benefits or submit an “Intent to File” by August 9, 2023, if granted, will be eligible for 12 months of backdated compensation. Visit the VA’s website for more information.
