Dear Friend,

As a former Army Ranger, today I’m celebrating the 248th birthday of the United States Army and honoring all of the men and women who joined the ranks to serve our country over the years. Joining the Army after college changed my life. Knowing what it’s like to march in the boots of an Army private, putting others' needs above my own, is the basis of servant leadership. It’s why supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and their families is one of my core priorities in Congress.

Last year, I proudly helped pass the bipartisan PACT Act into law to ensure that veterans exposed to toxic burn pits while serving our country get the care they’ve earned. It was the largest health care and benefit expansion in VA history and is already helping veterans who were exposed to toxins while serving.
